I tracked the production date down at Taurus' site and this one was produced in 1989. This is one great shooting revolver.

Very similar to mine except I have the rubber grips. Made about 2007.

Good shooter, great balance, very accurate.

Taurus has it now — it has a cracked forcing cone after 8,000 - 12,000 rounds. It will take, I'm told, up to 12 weeks to get it back with a new barrel.
Nice revolver, I take it that is the 6 shot model correct? Can't remember when they went to 7 shot in the Model 66.
Thanks all. Yes this one is a 6 shooter. I do believe the Model 66 has been increased to a 7 round capacity now.

That is correct. Mine is seven shot.

I also have a Model 617, which is a seven shot .357 magnum snub nose. I bought the stainless model.

It is also a nice gun; good balance and reasonably accurate given the 2 1/2 inch barrel.

BUT — as we all know, Taurus has quality problems. Both have been shipped back for work more than once in the past.

The issues mostly involved timing, causing jams, and in the case of the Model 66, a broken firing pin.
