I had to swing by the local fun shop to pick up the new gongs for the range. While loading up, one of the employees I know personally spies my 10.5" AR, and starts talking about one he lost in a house fire. I could see the question rolling in his head. "How much?" I said shoot me an offer, and I'll squeal if it's too low. We settled on $600 cash, and off he went. Well, what is one to do with a wad of cash your wife has no clue about in front of a gun shop?

I went in, and started looking. S&W....Ruger....couple of Chiappas.....too spendy. Well, bud comes from the back and wonders what I am in the market for. I tell him, he goes back, and brings out a pretty much mint M66 they had just gotten back from Taurus for a minor timing issue. I gave it the once over, locked up nice and tight, so I pop the nefarious question. For me, $250 OTD with a holster and a box of LRN 158gr .38 Special(they were fresh out of magnum rounds). After a 30 minute wait for NCIC to go green, out the door I went. I ran over to my other fun shop and bought pretty much everything .357 Magnum they had, including powder, projectiles, and primers. I also picked up 2 boxes of 180gr Bear Loads for this summer. I stopped by the range, and popped off the .38 for a function check, and I didn't see any lead shavings on the forcing cone. I do need to tweak the rear sight just a shade, but it was pretty much POA at 25yds.

Gun porn to follow tomorrow. After walking 10 bays for brass in 75 degree sun, I'm bushed.

And, here are the twins. M66 backed up by little bro.

I'm still on the hunt for a .357 SA, however, this will do for now.

Nice pair.

I ran across a 605 poly in my travels, how are they?
Not bad, actually. Recoil with full power loads weren't an issue with my wife, and she has a bad wrist. It did choke with 158gr loads, but loved everything 148 and below. I do plan on changing the pipette in the front sight, as the previous owner didn't do it right. It does work for now, though.

66s are good shooters. I have a 3" and a 4", older guns. I mostly carry my 605 poly as a primary belt gun, is easier on the belt. :D
