I received a similar e-mail from Ryan Bronson at Federal Premium. They (Federal) have suspended the Youth Shooting Sports ammo program until further notice. Previously placed orders for this program are back ordered around 6 months. I'd guess this is pretty much the status quo for all ammo manufacturers. I was lucky that I had ordered and had gotten 300 rounds of Hornady LEVEREvolution 30-30 just before the market went in the toilet.

Excellent letter and a sign of a great company!
Can you imagine the paychecks those guys are bring home with the OT? I wonder it they get an employee discount?
Also makes ya wonder how much of their paychecks are coming in the form of product. I know I'd be dumping a good portion of my earnings for the much sought after items as I'd also be one of the ones seeking it.

I suspect that is the case pretty much across the board. Rumors of DHS and other government entities buying up all of the ammo are likely just that - rumors. Some people decide that since they can't get ahold of what they want, the government must have something to do with it. I think the more likely explanation is that everybody is hoarding and panicking.

Perhaps... I just figured that they were not the main supplier that was awarded the Government Ammo Supply Contract.

Not so fast...I look good in aluminum!
Consider that the raw materials are being snapped up by the firms like ATK which are producing the government ammo. Hornady doesn't speak to shortages in that regard (although if they are running 24/7 they must be getting it somewhere).
Does Hornady manufacture their own cases...powder?
