I would go this way but before i pulled the rear sight. I would scribe where my sight sat in the dovetail. If the scope failed on me i could pull the scope and rail off. Then realign my rear sight with the scribe marks. Just keep the tools needed and rear sight on you ( small gladware container) to switch in the field.Taurus Tracker scope mount Weaver style base
May give a look at these. I wasnt sold on the idea of having to remove my rear sight but everyone that Ive talked to that has one loves it. Reasonably priced too
Good tip, thanks.I would go this way but before i pulled the rear sight. I would scribe where my sight sat in the dovetail. If the scope failed on me i could pull the scope and rail off. Then realign my rear sight with the scribe marks. I will look it up....the short barrel tracker I want doesn't have the vent holes to use the Taurus mount...but saw the Wieland one that mounts to the rear sight screw...See " new toy " thread on this forum I put a red dot on a Tracker 970 6.5 SS using the Taurus tracker mount worked out just fine ....
talking about Old eyes, hello, I find it more difficult sighting with a dot, red, green or blue than using the good ole crosshairs, I'm shaking all over the place with the dot off hand no matter what power its on, with crosshairs for some unknown reason much steadier with a better sight picture ..,guess it's just a repetition thing doing it one way for many years ...
