Model 85 Ultra Lite - Is it +P?

7971 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Marlin336
Hello All,

I just purchased an 85 Ultra-Lite that was listed as +P on the sales tag but does not list +P on the box or on the gun. Also, as I was leaving the store, the range officer that I speak to regularly said to make sure I only used standard pressure rounds.

The UPC Code is: 7-25327-32043-2 :confused:

Does Taurus make any 38 Special revolvers that are not +P?

Thanks,

It really has nothing to do with being new.....

According to Taurus the following guns are rated +P...

Model 85
Model 850
Model 851
Model 85 Polymer
Model 82
Model 817

All of the above chambered in .38 Special

All firearms chambered in .38 Super Automatic
All firearms chambered in .45 ACP
All firearms chambered in 9mm Luger

Taurus warns that NO Taurus firearms are rated for +P+ ammunition. Saami does not recognize any +P+ and Taurus warns that using +P+ ammunition in a Taurus firearm could result in catastrophic failure leading to serious bodily injury or death.

Taurus also warns that continued use of +P ammunition will shorten the life of your handgun.

This information can be found on the inside back cover of the Taurus catalogue.
