Seems like anybody can say anything about their product or services lately, and nobody challenges it.

One of my favorite expressions is: "clinically tested" or "clinically proven".

What the hell does that mean anyway? Absolutely nothing!

So, I just happened to click on an ad here on this site from Springfield Armory.

A very fine weapon, no doubt. I had one for a short while, Have seen and handled many others. Nice guns for sure.

OKAY.......Here's my gripe:

They call themselves "Springfield Armory USA" and say that they are "the first name in American firearms"

Excuse me, but aren't they made in Croatia? Jeez...Gimme a break here.

I guess that they purchased the name, or retained it over the years, gives them the right to say this stuff.

I don't know about you, but it annoys the crap outta me.

Springfield is still made in the USA except for the XD model you refer to that is made in Croatia. But the civilian version of the M14 and the 1911 are still made here.

Yeah, it's the way of the world these days -- somewhat legitimately with the global nature of the products we consume. I personally buy USA as much as I can, and I always want to know where my purchases are made. For instance, I would buy something from Taiwan over China any day -- I think y'all know the reason.......
