The 15 has adjustable sights, the 82 doesn't. I see duplication only in cartridge chambering. I have lots of cartridge duplication and 2 of exactly those you mention. The revolvers are quite different and you can't have too many.

My 82 is in Miami getting a timing repair. In the meanwhile, my brother is giving me back my S&W15. Those two duplicate each other, so I might trade the 82.........

I've ended up with more .38 Specials than I thought I would. For some reason, I don't have a problem with .38 Special redundancy.The 15 has adjustable sights, the 82 doesn't. Truth be told, I don't either. (Mind a bit of redundancy with the .38spcl). The .38 is my pet caliber. But, I am wanting a .44spcl in 4 inch. Either a CA Bulldog 4", or a tracker. (which I do realize its a magnum). There's no rhyme or reason for this itch of mine, I'm just wanting a .44 noise maker for the range.
My wife and I both carry .38spcl her an 82UL, and me a CA 6-shot Undercover Police. Both 2". Plus, now an 82 & my old 15. Both nice shooters.
