Post the model and caliber of the pistol used.

Winners will be selected on the first day of the following month.
Or whenever chicarrones feels like it, like the last day of the month after dark when nobody can shoot anyway.

Just for fun, not a competition.

50 yard bench shoot.
I doubled the size of this target and made a .pdf., also made all the black to shades of grey to save ink.
Actually it is 183% of original, 200% was too big a .pdf file to upload.
Print in Poster mode at 100%, takes 4 sheets.

5 rounds for scoring.
Mark the holes with a Sharpie Pen and shoot another 5 rounds.
Use different color pens and you can keep shooting until you run out of colors or shred the target.

You can use any sights you like, red dot, scope or laser.
Believe me, 50 yards is really hard with iron sights.

Alrighty, then, looks like I'm first up for this month.
Went out and shot 24 targets (144 rounds).
These are my best today, maybe another day I can do better.
Temp is 85 degrees and sunny, a little bit of wind, but not much in the woods.

Entry for this month:
5-1-2012-Target1-2.jpg
Score 50 (5X)

The other 4 that were pretty good:

5-1-2012-Target2-2.jpg 5-1-2012-Target3-2.jpg 5-1-2012-Target4-2.jpg 5-1-2012-Target5-2.jpg

As for the other 19 targets, all shots in the 9, 10 and X, except for 3 which had a shot in the 8, and one off paper, which would be the 7.
Fliers. Bah, Humbug!

Good shootin!
I'm going to try something different this month.
I'm going to use my 357 w/6" barrel. We'll see if it works out for me.

Where is everyone?

Anyway, killed some more paper today. 12 targets.
86 degrees, sunny, practically no wind.
All shots in the 9 or better except for 2 that would be in the 8.

Best for today.
Score 50 (4X)
The 6th shot cut the 9 ring at 7 o'clock.

Here's my May .22 entry. Fired at 7 yards. The targets don't say "Winchester" they say "Birchwood Casey" but they were an 18 pack and look right? If not disqualify me. The pistol is a High Standard 10-X, their top of the line gun. This is a Houston made High Standard, and one of the earlier ones before they went to stainless frames. Supposedly the early Houston guns were junk. This one wasn't real early, kind of in between. Shoots fine for me. Tossing out that high "flyer" the group is .75", the lowest hole is two rounds. Measured from the left-most hole to the right-most hole. This was the best of four after some practice targets. I don't normally shoot this gun at 7 yards, and it shot just a hair lower than I'm used too. It shot dead on point of aim, I had to hold the front sight into the red. The other three targets ran 1 1/8" to 1 1/4", throwing out the widest.

Those are the same.
Wally World gets them from several companies.

Thanks, but with that gun and match ammo, I kind of feel like I'm cheating. I mean that ammo costs more than the 9mm at Wally World. But you don't put regular in a Ferrari. I got the gun on the cheap at a pawnshop. It's kind of not fair. I was hesitant to enter it.

Wow!
It is expensive, but not more than 9mm.
MidwayUSA has it for $16.49/100.

If I can find any locally I may try it in my Savage.

You're right, I mis-remembered. I think I got it confused with the Lapua X-ACT I bought once at a LGS.

Looks fair to me. Now if a bunch of people start showing up with Olympic competition pistols (and they know how to use them) I would suggest another class of rimfire for sure.

Nice pistol. I'd like to have a good target 22. Good job.

It's the shooter, not the gun!

Where is everyone?
The owners are remodeling my favorite indoor range. They started on it April 30th and have everything in an uproar. Not closing, but a little difficult to find parking places right now. Going to take the Tracker M44 and the M94 in Monday morning just about opening time and see if I can't get a few targets punched. Looks like I'm gonna have to really work on them.

Got in just as they opened and had the pistol range all to myself for a change. Didn't drink any coffee before heading there so no caffeine shake this time. Kept the fliers pretty much non-existant.

Two entries.

1. Taurus Centerfire Tracker M44C SS 4" 5 shot .44 Magnum Revolver
Distance 7 yards
Target B27 Center
Ammo Handloads, 240 grain hard cast lead flat point over 12.5 grains of IMR Trail Boss
5 shots, strong side, unrested two handed, Weaver stance. Claimed score 50-5X (Gun only holds 5 so I only shot 5. For once, I didn't need to throw one out.)

2. Taurus Rimfire Model 94 Blued 4" 9 shot .22LR Revolver
Distance 7 yards
Target Birchwood Casey (Walmart pack of 18 )
Ammo Federal "target grade" bulk pack
6 shots, strong side, unrested two handed, Weaver Stance Claimed score 50-5X (per the rules, throw out the hit to the right, not shown in the "On Target" program's sizing box.)

EDIT: chicharrones asked me to re-check my rimfire target and under high magnification I see where I miss reported the groups. I took a high resolution closeup photo of the target and re-ran the OnTarget program on it. Still 6 shots, and throw out the rightmost hole, but the group opens up as shown in the new target - my apologies for not catching this myself.

Jim

We need to go back to 10 and 15 yards for next month, the 7/10 is too easy.

I thought the shorter ranges might be too easy.
Seems we have a few sharpshooters.
Next month we can go back to 10 and 15.

That smiley was supposed to be an 8 as in 18 but for some reason the forum software wanted to make a "Joe Cool" smiley out of it. I edited the OP to add a space after the 8 to fake out the software - :D
