Does it matter which direction the housing pin goes in?

If you are talking about the 1911, it goes in from the left with the dimple to the left.

It doesn't matter however traditionally it goes in from driver side to passenger side, in the U.S.

Thanks, yeah I had completed disassembled and reassembled and put the pin back in, then realized I went from passenger side to drivers side. Every thing works fine. I was just concerned if if we're slightly different somehow and it might be wearing on the hammer strut that way. Thanks so much. New here.
