hello again, i have another question, how long should i expect a magazine spring to last under concealed carry conditions? (.45 acp 24/7 pro) i am loading 10 in a 12 shot clip. the spring is already a little softer than when it was brand new, which is normal for springs, they usually take a set after a while. i am wondering if i should keep a couple on hand and replace them at some interval. i am also considering using "kal-gard's gear kote" (baked on HARD moly coating) on the inside of the clip so it will feed better. has any one tried that?

This question has been asked several times over the years on newsgroups. The spring
should last for several years if it is a good quality one.

It is the number of cycles(compress/decompress) the spring undergoes that shorten its life. If the spring remains compressed, there is nothing to worry about.

It is also interesting that a tiny balance spring in an automatic watch undergoes
about 94 million cycles(3*3600*24*365) per year. And they run like that for 15 years. ;D
