Just joined as I have been trying to do some research, to little avail at that, on my first gun, a Model 85. 3" with competition ported barrel.

The box (and SN lookup) reads: M85CP 3" SS 38SPL COMP 5 SHOT. I bought it is the mid to late 80's and have used it for my everyday carry when needed side arm. It is the most well balanced, accurate and easy to shoot gun I own.

Anyone seen of this specific type of M85?

Welcome to the forum.

I'll bet that little guy would light up the night sky shooting a 158 gr SWC over a stiff load of Unique. Wowie.

That's a beautiful gun, and probably shoots in a most enviable fashion. 3" barrels are not often seen around here, anyway. Good carry.

Awesome looking M85! I'm sure you noticed that the port area of the barrel is not rifled and has a slightly larger diameter than the barrel, Such is the nature of ported barrels.
