I'm looking in the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook, it has this.

240 grain lead bullet / 1.500" OAL / IMR 4227 powder Start charge wt. = 12.7 grains / Max charge wt. = 14.2 grains

Start velocity = 664/fps Start pressure = 8300 C.U.P.
Max velocity = 780/fps Max pressure = 12,800 C.U.P.

If you would like a pic of the data I could take a pic and try to upload it. I have done that before but not on this site.

ahh are you aware that almost every powder manufacture has loading data on the web for their powders/ projectiles and is generally the most up to date safe current loadings?

Keep in mind that Lyman's 45th ed is the one known as the last of the Pre-lawyer manuals. Starting with the 46th ed, the load data was very anemic for many rounds for "legal" reasons (i.e. so they couldn't be sued). Lyman claims it was due to powder reformulation or some such, but I find it impossible to believe that ALL powder manufacturers reformulated all their powders at the same time.

I just checked Lyman 44 and it doesn't list a 240 gr lead for 44 spl. It lists a 240 gr jacketed and a 245 gr lead.

240gr jacketed - IMR-4227 15.0gr (813FPS) to 17.5 gr (943FPS)
245gr lead - IMR 4227 - 14.0gr (780FPS) to 18.3gr (1050FPS)
Max OAL is 1.615"

Sorry I’m late to the party. The 45th does not list a 240 gr cast. It does list a 240 gr jacketed, a 232 and 245 cast.
