Latest update seems to point it towards Pascagoula MS......that's 25 miles to the west. We are preparing for it. Hope it fizzles out.
My friend in Biloxi PM'd me today and said she is evacuating to Bama. When the Derecho went thru my town I almost evacuated in my living room.

All silliness aside, my prayers are for everyone in the paths of these storms.

My Daughter is in down town Biloxi. The house was built in 1928. Its up on a brick and concrete first story foundation. It had no issues with Katrina or Camille in '69 as most of Biloxi washed away. I'm just 1/4 mile inland from the water myself. The water stopped in my drive way in Katrina. 100 mph winds are not bad here. A few limbs and a odd weak tree. But 110-115 your getting downed trees and roof damage. You will also see most green things burned by salt spray or out right stripped or leaves. Early fall as it will be cooling off in a few weeks before it can green up again. Pecans will be blown off the tree and a loss for the year.

Update- 0:350 am a limb hits the house and wakes me. A quick inspection reveals no visible damage- but it is windy ( and the storm is still far away). The last track update puts the storm coming in around Bayou La Batre, about 10 miles south of me. However, the local weather man says they believe it will shift farther east over into Baldwin county around Gulf Shores. Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel is stationed over there a little farther north in Fairhope.

Looks like its getting wind shear from the southwest and its close enough to shore where the northeast side is getting knocked down by land. Its down too 85 mph winds and the eye is not well formed anymore. Bad news is, it has stalled. This thing looks like it is backing up towards the panhandle. I think it was hurricane Opel or Fredric that stopped just like this, moved back east to Apalachicola and then came back west at 120 and crossed the ms/al state line. Hurricanes do what they dam well please and no weatherman in his right mind will tell you different.
Now heres a good one for you. I took my dad to his sisters house to get away from the storm as we may lose power. She lives in Fairhope !

When it slowed it's forward movement I knew that it would get much more dangerous. You folks in the way, take good care and my prayers are with you.

(9 am, Tue 9/15) The official track remains Bayou La Batre, but local weather folk are saying Mobile Bay. Also heard local folks talking about the possibility of the storm degrading a bit- that would be good.
Jim Cantore has moved from Fairhope west to Gulfport MS. Don't know why- maybe he wanted to hit the casinos?

It looks like it should be weakened a lot before it comes through my inland area but we will get some rain. People in the path are in my prayers for a safe ride !

Maybe he heard of a better seafood buffet.:D

Keep your head down. I don't like how slow this one's moving. That deep, soaking rain just makes trees easier to knock over. It doesn't take a CAT4 to make a big mess- even along the coast where folks understand how to prepare.

Looks like the official track now is Mobile Bay, but even that can change. So far just a lot of rain and constant 25-30 mph wind. No real biggie. We'll see what tomorrow brings?

There is just no good place for one of these things to wash up. Baton down the hatches, and we'll be praying for those of you in the path. God bless.

Looks like Sally is comin' t'visit. She should be at my house sometime Thursday. 'Pears that she will have lost most of her steam by time get gets to my neck of the woods, though.

You folks in LA (that's Lower Alabama, for the uninitiated) watch your back for the next couple of days. Sally sems to like to linger instead of just getting it over with.

Still getting lots of rain, and wind has picked up a bit 38 mph out of north east with gust to 56. You can hear it. So far only a few limbs down- but lots of rain.

Not bad over here. Winds 15-20 with a gust to 30-40
ever now and again. I might be lucky that the wedding venue on the river will not be wind and salt burned. It looks to be headed east north east to Pensacola and not up the Mobile Bay. A lest its moving now.

I don't see how but its has gotten to 105mph as its moving on shore at the Fl Al state line. Better known for the bar the sits on the beach. The florabama. I'm getting some gusts of a lest 50-70 mph. The puppy had to go. The back yard is on the Lee side but the tree top were bowing like a hurricane.

Radar shows it just made land fall at the Pink Pony club in Gulf Shores. That is about 15 miles west of the Florabama.

I was just watching reports saying there could be up to 30" of rain in some areas due to the storms lingering nature. It's hard to imagine that much rain. Boy they could sure use that in the northwest.
