Wife hit me up today about going to the range this weekend if I'm up to it. Of course this will be my first trip anywhere since I had my surgery on 12/18 other than to the Dr. office. Really need to get out of the house and do something. I do also have about 6 different test loads to shoot before I start loading again. So I'm hoping I'm feeling OK this weekend and the only real thing to do will be to watch my right leg and foot for swelling. See what happens!

You're further north and to the west than I am...this must be an indoor range, right? It's been hitting a high of the teens here...and no indoor for more than 50 miles...

Yes, indoor. So far it's reached 0* today, supposed to reach 30* Sunday. It's an old range that had been there since I started shooting back in 1970 though it has changed owners a few times. This one and one other newer range is about 25min from the house and there are 4 others within an hour drive. So when I got up this morning the foot was a bit less swollen so that's a good thing. Plan is to stay off it today and keep it elevated and put the compression sock on so hopefully it does not swell up again.

Just don't take your Glock pistol or you might end up with a lot of swelling in your leg and foot!!!-------:icon_censored:

I feel your pain. I haven't been to the range in over a year and it's supposed to be in the 50s for a day or two in about a week so I'm going to try to burn a few bullets. I've got a couple Walther PPK clones I've never shot, one .22 and one .32, so I'll leave the 9mm guns at home.

Thanks CWB, how's your recovery coming along? Again tonight it's not looking good, right foot and leg up to the knee look like balloons again.

Just did and inventory and gathered up everything for this trip. I have 6 9mm loads I want to test and compare, 2 with 124gr Berry's hollow base with different powders, 2 with 115gr X-Treme that I haven't used before and 2 with 115gr Berry's RN that are loaded to just about max but not +P. Then I have 3 380acp loads to test using X-Treme 100gr FP and the 2 new powders. So that is 9 loads to test between 3 guns! Should be fun, hope I can go and pull this off...

Gotta love a wife that tells you to go to the range, even if it's just to get you out from under her feet.

More like she's going to the range and dragging me with. So for now it looks as if we will be going in the morning.

Even better yet, she loves being on the boat when the fish are biting. She is also a very competitive person but is a good loser, kind of.:yeahbaby01:

A little disappointed as the trip didn't take place as was hoped. Got up this morning and the leg and foot were still very swollen and I couldn't get my shoe on. If still this way tomorrow morning I will be calling the Dr. back. So now we look forward to next weekend.

I was wanting to head out there and shoot with you guys but I've been sick as a dog...not fit for company. My wife even picked up extra work if that gives you any idea how miserable I've been...coughing about every 3-5 minutes. I have a new tool...a Winchester Model 1906 to try out and hope to head out there this coming weekend with the Marlin 44 magnum as that range allows 22 and pistol caliber long guns.

Yeah, I sat all day with the compression sock on and a heating pad Ace wrapped around my thigh and then on top of 2 pillows. After talking with my eldest daughter tonight I might be expecting too much too soon as the memories of past surgeries are coming back with some reminders. Wishful thinking? Being cooped up stinks.
