Hmmm.. I thought I had replied already! Sorry.
I have 4 of the Auto Drums and have never experienced a leak. I removed the safety device because I have them mounted on various turrets and on my progressive press as well. The biggest tip I can give you is not to over tighten the drum when changing them out, and make sure that the surfaces are clean and dry.

Otherwise, they will throw consistent charges with nearly any type of powder until the thing is empty, but the first couple of charges can be a little wonky right after adjusting the charge.

Also, make sure you are using the small drum for the two cartridges you cited (.223 and .380) but if you do any real rifle cartridges, make sure to switch over! I didn't, thinking that I could still hit the weight I was going for with the smaller drum and the stem came out.

I have tries using my Auto Drum on the 380 and ran into troubles. I was chipping out the case mouths while they were feeding into the die. As soon as I changed from the Auto Drum to the Auto Disk the problem disappeared! I think the return spring in the measure is too still for the light weight 380 cases. I have been using it on our 45acp and it's been perfect.

Please LMK if you run into this also. I hope you don't!
I've put all my autodrums on a Lee short riser, and just been really careful with how deep I set the belling. I had it eat a couple of .380 cases at first, until I got the depth just right. Now, I burned through 1200 of them last year without issue. It was touchy though and I didn't encounter that issue with any other caliber.
