I'm a Kel Tec fan as well, and I regularly carry the P3AT (.380 cal) and a P11 9mm on occasion. Kel Tec owners, feel free to post here.

The PF 9 has run into a host of initial problems, most of which we hope can be worked out. One of the regular guys on the Kel Tec forum has been testing the gun for several months now with different extractors and modified parts. Kel Tec has been providing him with spare parts for his testing. We hope to hear something following the ShotShow when Kel Tec reopens as to what modifications or changes are planned for the design. The gun itself is not much smaller that the P11, except that it is thinner. Where the P11 can hold up to 12+1 rounds, the PF9, being single stack, only holds 6+1. The main advantage I see is that it is a little bit lighter than the P11 and thinner. Personally, I prefer the capacity advantage of the P11, and it is still light enough for comfortable carry.

I don't think I'd consider the PF9 until they've been out for a least another year. Once they go through several production runs, and the gun techies test them and work out the bugs, then might be the time to get one. The P11 has proven itself at this point, and right now is the better buy if you're looking at Kel Tec 9mm. The P11 is also cheaper right now.

The P11 has a lot going for it. Light weight, 12 round cap with the newer mags, and great price. I see them on line for $225 now; very reasonable for a reliable carry piece in a respectable caliber.

My "bare bones" anywhere carry package. Kel Tec P3AT, 2nd Gen. with IWB holster. Regular carry ammo is the Remington Golden Sabre 102 gr JHP, the best round I've found for this gun.

The P3AT is a great little CCW, because you virtually forget its even on you. The Rem Golden Saber .380 JHP is a respectable round, for times when that .45 or 9mm can't be carried comfortably.

That's the one! I don't shoot my P3AT all that much (it really is a handful...the little beast, I've heard it called) but I know I can depend on it. This is the one you can get by with in places that frown on firearms. They will never know you have it. Unless you have to use it. But I'd rather have it and accept the consequences than not have it and wish I did.

The Kel Tec P11 gets shot much more than the P3AT, and carried more in the winter. Here is another "bare bones" carry package, the P11 with the belt clip, no need for a holster.

I shoot a lot of WWB 115 FMJ because its economical and available. Remington UMC JHP has been my carry ammo, at about $20 per 100, not bad for JHP.

The P11 clip will only work on the right side, left side would interfere with the slide operation. The .32 was different. The after market clips will work on both sides.

Tried out some new ammo in the P3AT today to see how it would work. I picked up a couple boxes of "American Ammo" (Made in Miami) at the last gun show. This stuff was cheap for .380, only $7 bucks a box. 95 gr, FMJ. It worked good, with one ejection failure where the brass got stuck horizontally, (not a stove pipe) and I'd never seen that happen before. The next round didn't fully feed up the ramp, but it was close. Anyway, it cleared easily enough, and ran good from then on. Shot some of my carry ammo, Remington Golden Saber, which feeds beautifully, is very accurate and makes a nice symmetrical hole in the target. The P3AT is a little beast to shoot, though. My trigger finger is throbbing after about 12 rounds from this gun. It is definately a shoot little, and carry a lot gun. Couple of mags each trip to the range just to check function and keep ammo rotated. Love the new PT145, but still nothing beats the P3AT for BUG pocket carry.

I'll take pictures of both and post here.

The PT 145 and the Kel Tec P11. The Taurus is a little "heftier", but not by much.

As both are double stack, the thickness is close. The PT145 is about 1/8" thicker.

Both I consider as conceal carry weapons. The P11 with the clip works nice in a 5 o'clock IWB carry. I'll probably carry the PT145 IWB in a left hand holster SOB.

Welcome to more Kel-Teckies! I've been eyeing those sub 2000s for a while, hoping to run into a deal on one. I'd really prefer a 9mm that would interchange mags with the P11. I think that would make a handy combo to have in the truck. The P3AT now goes with me as a daily pocket carry, with the P11 as primary, but that may soon be replaced by the Taurus PT145, after break-in. I was considering the PF9, but will wait on that until bugs get worked out. BTW, 9x19, how much for the chrome job on the P11? Looks great!

While I do like both, I'm leaning toward the PT145 for a primary carry. There are times when the P11 will still be in primary use, depending on weather and clothing. The best thing to do is get both, then you don't have to make a decision!!

When Kel Tec announced the PF9, I expected a smaller RohrBaugh size 9mm. The PF9 is, size wise, a P11 single stack. I don't understand why the effort for fewer rounds. I was going to get one, but I'm glad I saved the money and bought the new .45 instead. The p11 and the P3AT will still serve me well.

The PF9 is actually longer by .2 inches than the P11, same height, only other difference is the PF9 is .85" thick compared to 1" for the P11. I don't think you gain anything in size for conceal carry because they're roughly about the same. It means carrying less rounds. Like the same reason I chose the PT145 over the PT745. Size was almost the same, but the 145 carried more rounds. I don't think there is much of a difference in weight either, except when you take into consideration the weight of 4 to 6 extra rounds, depending on whether you have the 10 or 12 round mags in the P11. If a great deal ever came along on one, I still might buy it, since I do like the Kel Tec products. But I will wait at least a year to make sure they have the bugs worked out first.

The P11 could very well be the perfect pocket/conceal carry 9mm. It doesn't need to be smaller. A 9mm any smaller would be a real handful to shoot consistantly on target. Try a Rohrbaugh if you get a chance. An $1100 gun that's very nasty to shoot. It's too small for that round. Even the Kel Tec P3AT is a beast to shoot. You just can't make them any smaller than that. Both of these really push the envelope to the limit on size. As for the grip on the PF9, I haven't held one, but like the looks of the ergomatic style. Whether there is a whole lot of (size)difference between the PF9 grip and the P11 remains to be seen. (by me, anyway). I also have no problem with the long DAO trigger on the P11, or the P3AT. I actually like those triggers in a carry weapon.

$250 is a real score for the Glock 26. Let me know if you ever run into one of those again for that price. I won't sell my P11, though. I like it. It gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling!!

Just bought another P3AT, this one for the wife. I was afraid she was going to steal mine from me, so I ordered another new one. This one has the blue slide and olive drab frame. The P3AT has become my all-of-the-time carry gun, but moves to BUG when I take the P-11 or the Taurus Mil-Pro along. For light weight and conceal carry, its pretty hard to beat the P3AT.

The P11 is usually my primary carry gun, although I bought the P3AT and now find myself carrying that more than the P11. Sometimes I have both, but the P3AT can't be beat for light clothing days. As for carry ammo, the Rem Golden Saber JHP in .380 is an excellent round, and works well in the P3AT. I'll never give up the P11, though. I was going to start carrying my PT145, but I like the familar feel of the P11. The .45 will probably get more use in the winter.
