Astros win 2-0 on a 120 pitch no hitter, this is JV's third career no hitter and would have been a perfect game if he had not walked the 2nd batter. 36 years old, 14 strikeouts.

The way they govern the number of pitches these days, this is becoming a lost art. I'm sure Nolan is proud of the young man.
Verlander had already had a 111 pitch game in July and a 117 pitch game in August. He entered the ninth inning with 109 or 110 pitches. No manager would deny Verlander the opportunity to pitch a full 9 inning No-hitter the way he pitched today.

Justin Verlander and Gerret Cole are the only MLB pitchers that have over 250 strikeouts this season. JV at 257 and GC at 252
They are #1 and #2 for the Cey Young award! Go Astros!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
