I have been thinking and I would like to ask the forum members for their thoughts.

Do you think the model 605 cylinder and crane is interchangeable with a model 85's.

I've measured my 605 and 85' and they are darn close to the same.

Only thing I can see if you were put an 605 cylinder and crane in an 85 frame one might need to adjust the forcing cone on the barrel.

What do you folks think ?

If they fit and you want to try I guess is ok. Be aware the 605 cylinder is for 357/38, the frame of the 85 is not rated for 357. I wouldn't do it - but that's just me.

Thanks for your response silverstring
According to Taurus Customer Service the 85 and 605 uses the same frame.

My post was just for conversation.
I just ordered two (2) model 605's yesterday. Another one for me and one for my sun.

I like the fact that the 605 can handle 38pl., 38+P and 357mag.

I'm a little confused..so Is It the frame or the cylinder that needs to be beefier?
In my case I've considered doing this to my old M85(1996) putting a 605 cylinder In and shooting 38 +P, mine missed Taurus's
okey dokey for +P by a year or two and the fact It's over 20 yrs old I've never put +p through It.
