Just returned from a Gunshow where I purchased a Model4510-TKR-3BMAG. That is the 3" Magnum with a 3" barrell. I live in the Peoples Republic of Maryland so I do have to wait 10 days until I can pick it up. Meanwhile I would like to buy my accessories. I have read very good reviews of the Federal Premium 410 in the 2 1/2 inch Judge's. What ammo do you guys prefer for the 3" Magnum judge? Also looking to get a holster. I want an outside the belt where the belt goes thru the slots. Any reccomendations there?

Thanx-
Bill

Congrats on your new Judge!

I love mine. I use a nice Blackhawk belt holster~~inexpensive and comfortable.

Also, just bought some of the new Winchester PDX1 Buckshot and 45 Colt ammo in a combo pack. I really like the way the buckshot patterns.

Congrats! You will love your new Judge.

I picked up a nice leather holster for ours on ebay. It was under $40.00.

A little off topic, but I have a Question...
Can you mix shells in the Judge?
I saw a S&W "Govenor" ad, and they show mixing the .45, .45 Colt, and .410 shells like it's something new..(????).

Don't know if you have seen or dealt with blackhawk but I have one for sale that didn't fit my Judge because I got the public defender poly and the front of the gun is too big to fit the holster. I will make you a deal if you want this one. New holster never used.

The S&W Governor will accept .45ACP along with the .45 Colt and .410 shells. I don't thing any of the Judges will take the .45ACP yet. And yes you can mix the shells in a Judge and Governor as in 3-.410's and 3-.45Colts

I think it is designed for the 2-1/2 bbl I would assume the bbl would just stick out the end because it is open. I have one for my 24/7 and no scratches yet but I also does use it for CCW so hard to answer with personal experience. Great holster and the trigger lock is really nice. I wish this worked for my judge but it doesn't work for the poly PD. This is the holster I have which states it is for the 3" bbl but the box says 2-1/2 judge. The product number on mine and the box match

IMO if you want to utilize the 3" chamber I would look in to the Remington Home Defence rounds in 000 buck. It's 5 .37caliber slugs traveling at 1225 feet per second. If you're worried about over penitration you could use the 3" Winchester DPX1 rounds which have 4 38 caliber size disks followed by 16 BB size shot at 750 feet per second. If you want maximum penitration I would recommend the Winchester rifled slug which is a quarter ounce or about 110 grain rifled hollow point slug that travels over 1800 feet per second.
