I ordered a gun online today, won't be here until 2018. So does this make it the last purchase of 2017 or the first purchase of 2018? I'm so confused. :boggled:

I'm sure many can guess what it is, I'll post about it in the appropriate section when it arrives, because we all know without pictures it did not happen.

If it were tax deductible it would be based on the date of the receipt.
I tried to get Trump to put that in the Tax Reform bill...all firearms purchases are tax deductible...but it went nowhere.

Now you know that Chucky and Nancy wasn't going to go for that!!!
I heard Biden was trying to get tax deductions for all the shotgun ammo he shoots up in the air!

Guns are different. It doesn't matter what the date on the receipt is, it isn't yours until the 4473 is filled out and you pass the record check.
So this gun will be your New Year's present to yourself.
Congratulations.

Every year Texas has this "Tax Free" weekend where you can buy school supplies and clothing tax free. I wanted to buy a new pistol tax free. I mean, in an inner city school, I wouldn't leave home without it. But, my wife keeps telling me firearms don't qualify. I hate PC laws!

That's kind of silly unpractical government reasoning now isn't it. A more practical time would be that it becomes a new purchase at the time your Spouse discovers it.

To me, that seems reasonable.

I've pulled that move before. "When did you buy this?" "Uh... yesterday..."

There are no pictures of my birth, but I'm pretty sure it happened. :anim_rofl2:

You do have a point. It is sometimes hard to determine exactly who is running your life.

FedEx tracking is showing my Stoeger Uplander 12ga. is on the truck for delivery to my LGS today. It was expected to be my last purchase of 2017, but yesterday afternoon I found myself coming down with the flu. If I live through this nasty *&#%, I believe it will now become my first purchase for 2018.
