Here's something you don't see every day...I picked this up a couple of years ago.

It might look like it's stainless, but it's actually a nickel-plated 68. I doubt that it's been fired much. I haven't fired it. It just looks too cute to get dirty.
Now that is a top notch 68!!

Hi Guys,

I recently bought a 68, and picked it up about two days ago. I now see the rear sight is missing. Any idea where I can get one? It does not seem like there can be much to it judging from google pictures so I might also make my own but need a close-up and even better some dimensions. Some more original grips might also help... Can anyone help or steer me in the right direction? What is the general conensus of the 68? I bought mine over the fone and was told it was a 6 shot, 4" barrel... no model number was given. I was somewhat disapointed when I got a 3", 5 shot missing its rear sight with what looks like a home made grips. I hope it makes me feel better when I take it to the range!

Thanks!

First of all welcome to the forum.

After doing some research the usual places that I look at for Rossi parts you ask about came up nil.

However, Firearm Parts & Accessories | Military Surplus | Numrich Gun Parts has schematics for the Rossi 68.

This guy might be able to help. Rossi Gun Parts, Bob's Gun Shop

If not the only alternative I know of is to call this place. Jack First Gunshop - First in Gun Parts - Rapid City, South Dakota

The Rossi, if taken care of, is a fine piece. There are many members here who have such a revolver and still use it. It might take a day or two to get a response from the actual owners but they should be along.

I have a model 68 Rossi laying in the back of the safe, they did make a stainless and it was a model 88.
mines a 2 inch barrel in blue.
the weapon has had about 50 rounds fired through it, it was my sisters and she kept it for years and of course never fired it except the time i took her to the range.
parts are from hard to impossible to find for the Interarms Rossi, also they do not carry the same guarantee that the (Taurus) owned Rossi do.
pretty good little guns though.

Thanks for all the positive respones!

I found a nice rear end photo of a 68 and using some image viewer, I made some measurements and scaled it to mine and now I have some very close measurements. My blank sight has been fitted and now I just need to sight it in on the range. Now my question is, with the front and rear sight aligned what is the point of impact? I suppose its not really that critical and depends on my needs but would like to get it close to factory spec. Remember I can file the rear sight down but don't really feel like making another one!

Regards
