I'm getting pretty good at Skeet. Shot two good games yesterday.

Had a good time yesterday. Shot two rounds skeet and shot really well. First game I shot a 19 and in the second I shot a 20. The last two overhead shots are impossible. Only the old timers that run it at the club can hit those darn shots. Took my son and my best friends son with me. I borrowed a Tuffy .410 for them to try it out. My son took one shot with it and did not like it. That light little gun kicked a bit hard for him. My friends son had never fired a gun before. He had a GREAT time trying to hit the clays with the .410. He didn't get any but sure had fun trying. You could tell from the shit eating grin on his face.

Did you shoot with Obama, who turns out to be a skeet shooting enthusiast?

No. Not going to go shoot skeet with BO. I don't believe it anyway. I can't imagine the secret service letting friends of BO. Who who most likely can't handle a weapon to save their lives. Shooting a friendly game of skeet with the prez.
All joking aside, I really enjoy skeet and consider myself to be a good shot: 19 out of 20 shooting singles. Dove, that's another proposition; can't hit a dove to save my life. We have a chair mounted thrower and that makes for a really run afternoon.

Now are you shooting skeet or just clay targets. By overhead targets do you mean station 8 hi and low. if thats what you are shooting I can help you hit them they are actualy very easy targets when you get the timing and sight pictures of them down. I am a former member of the USN Skeet team with over 15 years experiance ant skeet/trap ranges. Pm me for some good links on skeet shooting and tips Randy

Definately shooting the game of skeet. And yes, the last two clays at station 8 kick my ass. I cannot hit them.
I love shooting clay pigeons. I LOVE it when they turn to black smoke. I have to say that I'm trap shooter. I hope you run 'em. Bob

good shooting, raptor! I never shot much skeet but was a member of two trap clubs and president of one for many years. I've backed off now because of the cost. Back then, members could shoot round for $2, and I loaded my own shells, figuring my costs out at $2 a box (using used hulls). So in a typical week, I might shoot 10 to 15 rounds easily.

Today, however, at least in the San Antonio area, there ain't no cheap way to do it, and trap has been about a $10 a round deal.

There's a fantastic trap - skeet range just West of SA, but to this point it was only used for "events" ----- no memberships and big national orgs would rent it out on weekends. I just found out that they are now taking memberships and have public shooting on Thursdays and Saturdays. Seems like the cost is only about $6 a round for members so I'm going down next week and check it out. (skeet, trap, sporting clays)

May be time to get the old 870 TC out of the closet, take off the 18.5 barrel, and put the trap barrel back on. :)

Get that 870 out Chuck & go shoot. :)
At our gun club we have a manual type thrower. 3 or 4 of us get together & shoot 2 boxes of targets every Sunday. It's a blast. No registered targets, just shooting for the fun of shooting.
