your gun will fail to feed.

Been trying to figure out the feed problem with my new
Stoeger Cougar 8040 for the past couple months. Accurate.
Easy shooting. Just would not feed.

Took it out at lunch today determined to find out what was
wrong. Turns out I had the thumb of my left hand riding
the slide when gripping it two handed. Dumb.

If your gun is giving you problems, take your time, analyze,
sometimes it's something simple, like OPERATOR ERROR.

Love this gun. Glad I figured this out.

Another great way to help determine a problem is to video what you are doing. When you play it back it usually sticks out like a sore thumb.

I was given a one on one tour of the U.S. Special Forces Weapons
Training Center at Fort Bragg NC. You would not believe their gun
vault.

They had an M60 mounted on a fixture with a high speed camera
mounted next to the ejection port. Guy told me it was having feed
and ejection issues. Said they were going to run a belt of ammo
through it while filming it. They can go through the film frame
by frame to see what happened and what caused it. Very cool.

Typically my gun problems are centered around a loose grip nut. or was that a loose nut on the grip?

Tried this with a girl friend once. Posted in on the web
asking for opinions.

She left when she found out.

Determined she was the problem.
