Not sure what to think. It's easy to avoid the smile mark if you just put the thing together right in the first place. Maybe if you are required to have a barrel wrench on some FLGR type build or something then I could see using it.
Right after getting my 1911 home I watched a YouTube video on how to field strip my gun, then scratched it with the slide stop putting back together. Then the next video I watched was this guy selling that idiot guard. I guess in just the short time I had the gun I had become a proud new 1911 owner and a member of the 1911 scratcher idiot club .
