I've had this rifle for a few years, it's a really solid build and I just love the walnut stock on it. I've been putting off the scope, but I dug it out and took it to the range yesterday, and it's so accurate with the iron sights....I figure the scope is going to make it pretty outstanding. I went to Academy and bought a cheap Bushnell 3-9x 40mm scope, that should be good enough for what I'm going to use it for. I may not change anything else on it, the lower polymer trigger area was replaced already, and I like the clean lines of the rifle so I'm not likely to change out the barrel. I'll post a range report when I can get it to the range.

I think everyone should own one, they are just fun to shoot. And are incredibly accurate. I have a 3x9 on mine with see through mounts. They make a great target and small game gun. Congrats on your upgrade!

The Israeli Defense Force uses 10/22s. They originally got them as "less than lethal" weapons to use during riots and such in urban areas but something like 70% of the time, they turned out to be lethal.

I have scopes on both my Marlin 60s, but not on my Ruger 10/22. When I bought the Marlins, I knew I wanted scopes on them. Before I even bought the Ruger, I was dead set against putting a scope on it. I'm starting to waver a bit, especially since I already have a scope that I could put on it.
I really like the scope/laser combo, never thought I'd be into it. It's like having a red dot with a magnifier but way cheaper. The mil reticle has five brightness levels of both green and red and the laser is right on the center of the crosshairs. With the reticle lit-up green, the red laser really shows up nice and target acquisition is fast. I haven't gone past 50 yards with it yet but so far it's been a hoot. I figure we'll prob'ly have the barrel shot outa' this thing in about a year.

My wonderful wife bought me this stainless 10/22 several years ago.

I put a VERY inexpensive Tasco 3-9x scope on it and a Butler Creek stainless folding stock. Unfortunately I discovered a flaw in the stock requiring me to put the original back on again... There's a large bump-out on the inside of the stock right where the trigger assembly is located. Ruger uses the inside sides of the stock to hold the trigger cross-pins in place. The Butler Creek folder bumpouts were large enough that they let one of the pins creep out and pop out of one side, making the trigger not reset correctly. I need to glue some shims into the Butler Creek stock.

Folded, it's shorter than my Tavor:

That's an old pic, lol. I replaced that EOTech holographic weapons sight with a Vortex 1-8x LPVO illuminated optic that I'm very happy with.

But yeah, the 10/22 is pretty accurate. At 50 yards it'll knock 12ga hulls off the fence at least half the time with run-of-the-mill ammo.

I have assorted optics, lasers, etc. on the ARs that I've built. Aside from replacing the synthetic stock with a wood laminate stock from Boyds, my intent with my 10/22 was to keep it simple with the factory sights.

These are really good stories and really good pictures, if interest keeps up, I may start a 'show me your 10/22' thread. Yeah, it's a Taurus forum. :D

Darn! Y'all got me thinking seriously about doing some trading and getting another 10/22 (I sold my first one, a breakdown, to my younger son). Truly, this place is a.k.a. Enablers R Us!

Congratulations on putting a Scope on your Ruger 10/22 and may it serve you well!

Many decades ago, I put a Japanese made World Class Simmons 3x-9x 32mm Scope on my Ruger 10/22.
That same model Scope is also mounted on my .30/06 and 7x57mm Mauser Rifles.
It has made my Ruger 10/22 easier to shoot accurately, and so equipped, has accounted for many Targets, small game, and varmints.

Enjoy! :)

My presentation in today's Show'N'Tell:
The Ruger 10/22 takedown that I sold to my younger son.
With a cheap inexpensive Japanese scope that I put on it.
That I regret selling to him.
That I want to replace in my inventory.

I've looked hard at the Ruger banana mags and this one you linked to as well, and I'll probably buy something like that in the future....there is something to be said though, for the sleek lines of the rifle without a mag protruding down below the bottom of the stock.
