How to fix/change abrasive grips on the M&P 40c and 9c?

631 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  shakyshoot
I purchased a M&P 40c and 9c about a month ago and have been carrying them daily. Grips are more abrasive to the skin than the Taurus grips. Any experience on fixing that issue?

Thank you!

That sounds super simple.
Thanks, youngandfree
You can also put on a grip cover like Hogue. That way you do not affect the original grip if you want to sell it.

I put traction grips or talon grips on most of my poly pistols. Choose the rubberized versions to get a nice grippy, but easy on the skin texture. This is like applying a decal - very easy.

I use skateboard tape, you can get it in rubberish or sandpaperish texture. Cheaper than custom cut grips like talon.

I have the rubber type Traction grips on my PT709 and both Beretta PX4s. Great stuff! Cut to your specific gun. Stick on, apply a little heat, it's good to go!

I rubbed the grips of my 45 Shield lightly with some already well-worn 200 grit garnet paper. Wipe it with a damp cloth afterwards. Do a little, you can always go back and do more. If you keep it off of the smooth bits so they don't get scuffed, no one would ever know you did anything.
