Site newbie from WV here. I have been thinking about getting my CCW permit for a few months. Being that a long gun or a Hi-Point .45 can't be concealed(and some would say can't be trusted) very well ;D I stopped in my local gun shop last week. After fiddling around with different guns for about an hour- Sig, Glock, and Kimber. I decided on the PT-140 Mil Pro. It was the only gun that actually felt good to me and fit my hand. I didn't bring it home yet as I just bought a new .17HMR rifle a couple weeks ago and my wife...

I've heard all the negativity and all the praise of these pieces and decided to look past the negative. The guys at the shop spoke highly of the Mil Pro, and one uses the .40 as his CCW so if it is good enough for him, it should be good enough for me as they have not steered me in the wrong direction yet.

Happy to be here and look forward to conversing with you folks.

Welcome to the forum. Why not consider the 24/7 compact versions? You have some time to look at the other Taurus related siblings.

The Millenium pro series has a lot going for it. What ever caliber you choose will serve you well.

Some light reading for you. ::) ;D :D :)

The PT140 and their brethren are well represented at this forum

Reading the FAQs, as well as perusing old and recent threads on what pertains to you is recommended.

Thanks for the links Quiks, but I beat you to them. I read a few threads here before signing up ;)

My local shop did not have any in the case. I'm not sure if you are referring to the Pro versions on their site or not but looking at the specs, the gun is an inch longer, is wider and taller than the Mil Pro which will be for CCW carry.. The fit and feel of the Mil Pro is what drew me to it versus the Sigs, Glock and so on. I'm not sure if it is the the width of the grip or what but it just feels good in my big hands.

Aw, shucks! :) Now the only way homework can be assigned is if you purchase said product. That's in the form of 30,000 or more word range report on Flyer's desk by Monday mornings at 7 sharp. :) The only problem is we can't find Flyer's desk since it is virtual. ;D PT's do have a way of just sitting right in the hand anyway. Makes shooting easier for some of us. :)

Welcome to the forum Dusty. :D Qwiks lays the law down with those homework assignments so you better get cracking. LOL

Congratulations on your purchase too, you'll have to post some pics after you're able to bring her home. :)

Jeeze Qwiks, I finished school over ten years ago. I don't know if I can handle homework now ;D

I'll put up some pics when it comes home. Like I mentioned above, I just brought home a new .17HMR- coyotes are getting bad here ;) and my wife would be rather ummm... upset so I put the Taurus in 'layaway' for a couple weeks.

I have been hinting around to my wife about 'needing' a new pistol so when the new gal comes in, she won't be too awful surprised ;D

I stopped in the shop the other day and they let me fondle her for a few minutes, but I noticed her stainless steel sister in the case and fondled her too.

I can get the SS version for the same price, I'm not sure but I think I may like it just a bit better. The only downside I see to a SS model is if I ever need to be stealthy then you have that pretty stainless slide there to reflect light.

OK Qwiks. I did pick up a 24/7 and check it out. For some reason it feels like the Sig did in my hand. I did consider your suggestion though ;)
