This woman's video is very helpful in selecting a first handgun. I will be moving to a semi auto this summer (can't wait) and found this video to be most helpful for me.

Excellent pick. And guys. No matter how bad you want to show off your knowledge of firearms, let the lady make the choice and get her own education mostly from neutral sources. That includes most training for shooting as well.

I am going through this with my wife as well. While I may consider myself an expert firearms owner, imparting that knowledge can present some relationship challenges.

If you're gonna carry it a lot make sure it's small and light with a grip that fits your hand. .380 or 9mm would be my advice for the caliber.
The keltec pf9 is small. light, and a 9mm but it's not something I'd recommend a women to carry. IMO a .38 spl caliber revolver would be better suited for a number of reasons.
