Hello Everyone!

I have joined this forum because i'm planning to purchase my first gun,
I'd like the PT1911 Commander but it's not yet available here in my country.

For the meantime, I'm looking at PT909 SS as an alternative, any comments
and suggestions?

Welcome to the forum, glad you could join us.

Both the 24/7 PRO series and the PT92/100 series are well represented here, among other lines Taurus manufactures. While I don't own a 24/7 PRO yet, at least not until the OSS version is released, I do have experience with the PT92.

It's a very reliable, accurate pistol that's aesthetically pleasing. I also prefer the frame mounted safety of the Taurus over the slide mounted safety of the Beretta 92FS which may or may not be a major consideration for some.

If you're interested in a more compact series, the MIL PROs are worth looking into as well.

I currently have the PT909 9mm 17+1 blue..not the SS..however i took it to the range this morning and put some 100 rounds through it...hassle free. No jams, and a friend of mine who owns a Glock 19c asked me while we were on the firing range if he could fire a few rounds using my PT909 just to see if its ok..He was so surprised to know that the recoil is not stronger than he'd expected from a gun like mine. I fired his Glock 19c as well and it seems that the Pt909 has a lesser recoil. I'm a newbie too like yourself i'm sharing my experience for you to know and i do hope i can help you in getting your new first pistol. Everybody on this site will surely assist you. We do have a lot of good people here and with experience on pistols. Enjoy and best wishes.
