just joined,im thinking about getting a taurus millinium pro pt145,saw one at academy sports liked the way it looked and handled. wondering about the recoil from a 45 in a light pistol? i have a question about a taurus model 82 revolver made in 1992 is it safe to fire plusp ammo in it? on another forum one person said taurus didn't make model 82s rated for plusp ammo until 1994, i called taurus -gave them the serial# and they said not to fire plusp ammo in it, i had already shot about 18 rounds in it before i called them ,i still have it,looks brand new like the day i bought it,i haven't shot it since, i want to shoot it, but i don'yt want to risk damaging it any help appreciated

Welcome from just down the road. A buddy of mine has a PT145 & I was surprised how "managable" it was when I shot it. I thought about getting one, but I already had a .45 & the price of 9mm rounds are a lot cheaper. ;D

Welcome from the KY, Horse Country!!
Well, you probably did not damage it with that low rounds of +P, but if it was me, I would follow the Taurus advice and use standard or low velocity 38's thru it. I only have a 357, new manufacture so do not have the concern. Your 82 will get the job done with the standard rounds.

Welcome from West Texas!

Lest you're a very small feller, the PT145 recoil won't bother you.

gpboy57, welcome to Taurus Armed from VEGAS!

I have a PT-145 and the recoil doesn't bother me, though my wife prefers to shoot my 24/7 45 acp because of the recoil. See if there is a range where you can rent one and try for yourself.

Welcome to the forums.
If Taurus CS said no +P, then I'd go with that.

There are exceptions to that as many here have or still do put +P ammo through there older revolvers. Most were not a steady diet and and have had no malfunctions or revolver parts breaking.

There are others who put a steady diet of +P and the guns have had no ill effects.
Here's some stuff on that.

This isn't all we have here for this conversation piece, but you folks get the drift. Been done many times before and probably many again. +P vs. non +P. Good arguments for or not for. Depends on a lot of variables and situations one is in. Have to be flexible to things.

This is one of those if Mo won't go to the mountain, then we bring the mountan to old Mo.
That folks is roughly about two thirds of what we have on the +P/ non +P discussion circuit.

Got most of the calibers in that kind of conversation in this bunch of links.
Anything I was going to add is already in the links.

What you trying to do, give us all carpal tunnel syndrome?

Got some just typing in all the links.
There is a lot of info on non +P ammo and +P in here. I'd go with the recommended non +P loads just to keep the warranty,to keep yourself safe, and there are standard pressure rounds that are just as good as the +P variants. Those are in the links set forth here.
As for the other ammo links:
