Wow, looks like I found the right group here. Everyone seems so welcoming and friendly! I guess it's true, armed people are polite people, didn't someone say, or words to that effect?
Hello, everybody!
I've been a concealed-carry license holder (rather, the People's Republic of Massachusetts equivalent thereof: the "Class A Large Capacity License to Carry Fiearms, No Restrictions") for almost 20 years.
I've had a stainless 85CH for many years, carried it awhile in a pocket holster and had relegated it to the GunSafe next to the bed, in favor of one of the S&W Airweights, the 642-2. I'd been carrying the S&W in an ankle holster pretty much 24/7 for a few years. It's a nice gun, but it's so light it always moves in my hand on firing and, in fact, tore up my thumb web area pretty good the first time I fired it! Talk about a punishing little revolver.....
Then I just got David Kenik's book, Armed Response: A Comprehensive Guide to Using Firearms for Self-Defense and he emphasizes making sure you're comfortable with your carry gun; I certainly haven't been, with that light S&W. So, out came the 85, back into a pocket holster and man, does it feel good! So much beefier, and just a little heavier than the S&W, but I'm so much more confident with the old Taurus. It doesn't "print" through my pocket, and I don't have to wear those baggy-legged trousers anymore to accomodate that ankle holster
Life's good out here on Cape Cod. We're full of tourists at the moment. I'm so glad I found this forum and hope I can contribute something useful, if not about Tauruses (Taurii? Taurae?) then maybe some wisdom from this 58-year old guitar-playing dude
