It is hard to figure out the thinking of these people at Taurus International.
When it comes to the Taurus 692 revolver. Tripple threat is a good idea. 38spl., 357 and 9mm.

Why not a 2" barreled version for carry minus the adjustable sight ? To me a 3" barrel is a little uncomfortable as a carry gun especially if it is of the Compact frame as is the model 617. At times I carry the 617 but to me it is just a little to big for great comfort like the 605.

You really have to scratch your head.

Maybe the little extra bit of accuracy from that one inch entered into the equation.
I've shot 2" revolvers. Passed 7 yards I'm more accurate with a slingshot.
Just my opinion of course. We all know how that goes.:(

There are some people, like myself, that prefer a 3 inch barrel on a revolver to a 2 inch barrel. I feel I get a better sight picture or weapon silhouette for aiming, a little more velocity from the ammunition being shot, and a little better counter balance to the overall revolver. And adjustable sights are nice to have, regardless of barrel length.
