I went back to Cabales to have my scope mounted, and bad news enter it's ugly head.I order the mount that they told me I needed and had to buy the rings there today done. The guy come's back and tell's me the Buckmaster II scope want fit in the rings because the mounts are a two piece set and can't be adjusted so I had to change scopes.I went with Cabelas Caliber-Specific Riflescope 3-12x40. Here's the scoped BLR 30.06.

I'm not sure who makes that scope. I have faves and scopes I won't own (primarily Simmons and Tasco). I'm not a buy the most expensive and be happy or a Leupold is the end all kinda guy, though. I own Weaver, Bushnell, and Weatherby. I find the Bushnell Banner and Trophy series to be very high quality in an affordable scope.

BTW, there are some very good scopes that sell as store brands, stuff like Miopta which is a Czech company. I'd like to get a Miopta. I guess I'd need another rifle, though. :D

I always liked the super short stroke lever on the BLR...
No linkage, uses a rack and pinion gear system and locking lugs at the front of the bolt for a VERY secure lock up allowing it to be chambered for the high pressure rounds. I've always admired the BLR and the OPs is a nice one. My primary hunting rifles are bolt guns, though. My best friend has a BLR in .308. I REALLY like that one. :D

I like to stay small and light for scopes on my big game rifles. That has a lot to do with the heavily wooded areas I hunt where longest shot I've taken was 130 yards and the average shot is closer to 40 yards. My ideal scope is the Leupold VX3i 1.5-5x20.

The BLR is a gorgeous rifle. If I see one in .358 Win. I'm going to be sorely tempted.

I've always though a BLR would be a nice Alaska gun chambered in .325 WSM. But, I don't know if I'd wanna subject a really nice rifle to that harsh an environment. :D Anything I'd use up there would be stainless/polymer like my little Remington M7.
