So I was on GB, and found a Sig Adaptive Carbine Platform. It ended Sat for about $100. The instructions said to print an invoice thru GB checkout and send a USPS MO. I did that Monday afternoon, and marked the entry with "Payment sent". About 2h later I got an email asking me to send to another address - same company name using the registered email address. I responded thru GB message that I had already sent funds to the GB registered address on the invoice. He told me that was the old address. Any suggestions on what I can do? Can I put a stop payment on a USPS MO?

The post office should forward the payment to the companies new address. I would contact USPS and see what they suggest

I would also alert GB of the matter just to give them a heads up.

If he knows it is the ‘old’ address - what is it still doing listed on GB?? Is he an active seller? Good rating? I’d ask him if he has ‘forwwrding’ On that old address.

Contact GB and give them this info. I haven't used them but would think that they require sellers to keep their addresses updated to avoid something like this. You have no way to know who sent you the later mailing address.

definitely do not send the mo to the new address. its more than likely a scam. contact GB immediately. Have you googled the 2 addresses to confirm they are in fact legitimate locations? that would be my first step. if it looks like there is evidence that they are legit then maybe you can follow through with it.

i would be on the line with usps and cancel the mo and try to get a refund or reissue another one. any legit business or individual would be having there mail forwarded if they moved.

Contact GB and tell them what happened. And the USPS should forward the mail -- did you send it as track-able (priority) mail?

Thanks everyone for your input. I stopped by the post office today, and was told they don't have stop payment request. They said the mail will either be forwarded or returned to me if the forwarding request has expired. If it seems lost, then I could file for review/replacement.

As suggested, I will Google the company and try to ascertain validity. I have also notified GB.

Just an update. USPS refunded my MO. They will issue a refund after 60 days, and I had to go to the PO to file the form.

GB stayed in contact with me. The seller stopped responding to either of us.

BTW, the GB protection policy will cover any loss less a $100 fee.

Glad that this ended well, sucks that the seller wasn't legit too!
Thanks for the update.
I've only made 3 purchases thru GB and so far all have been straight forward. For some reason I feel more secure using GB than any of the others. I also use Armslist but those purchases have all been local pickups.
