The gun testers mail offer subscription, claim that when shooting the new 445TBC Titanium revolver it locked up from over heating.

However, they give a big thumbs up to the regular steel 445 that is $250.00 less in price, weighs only 8 oz. more, and is a great .44 carry gun.

Anyone out there have over heating problems with their 445TBC? I'd sure like to find out if these gun testers are right or not.

Given that titanium has a lower coefficient of expansion it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense, but I've the same thing in a couple places.

A possible explanation might be that titanium's use together with steel hadn't been thoroughly wrung out in guns, based on the fact that the two expand at somewhat different rates. For instance parts made to close tolerances based on the COE of titanium could theoretically be pushed too close together by an adjacent steel part.

What I've related to you on what was said, is about it...no rounds count, but the inference was many.
Rounds count? You would suggest something other than normal? Surely no gun tester anywhere ever has anything like bias!!!! Surely no such person was ever paid off!! Doesn't testing a gun mean, by definition, that you are a super saint?

It reminds me of when the Plymouth Horizon first came out. A testing company declared it unstable on the highway and nearly sank it in the market.

The facts? Fine print showed how they tested it. On a large test area they ran it up to 55 miles an hour. At that point they turned it into a hard turn with the steering fully in one direction then turned it loose. It didn't return to straight driving in this hands off condition within something like 3 seconds, so they blasted it.

I don't know any car on earth that would have passed that test then. Maybe not now.

Fortunately I didn't read their report of instability until after I bought mine. It was stable as a rock. At one point I drove it hands off for 1 1/2 miles before having to pull it away from the edge of the pavement.

It takes all kinds...
