I work with a few gun lovers and we talk about anything and everything that relates to the hobby... Well I heard two new "rumors" about the possible ban. They may be legit but they seem kinda far fetched even for these gun haters.

First, I was told that the attention is now on handguns and not rifles. Reason being the FBI's data showing how deaths from rifles being far less than handguns. And the handgun ban will be on ALL handguns, pistols and revolvers both.

Then I was told that this ammo shortage is because all these manufactures are having to now make ammo with a one year shelf life. So they are in the process of switching out to this new ammo. And this of course came from a small gun shop employee trying to sell his current stock of "long life" ammo.

Now these may be legit and I may be making an a$$ of myself, but all this seems pretty extreme.

But I digress, what all have you been hearing?

No offense intended, but I don't pay attention to rumors. If you pay attention to what the Left says and does, you can predict their next moves. They seize on every crisis to advance their agenda. We know this. Disarming citizens is what they want. They don't have to have it all at once. A little here, a little there. It's all good for them.

Here is a message for the Left as they try to disarm us. When you come for the guns, you are going to eat lead. Lots of it. No rumor.

The ammo thing is definitely BS. The ban already makes every automatic handgun that can ACCEPT a 11+ rnd mag illegal anyway (aka 95% of them).
that would be part of Feinstein's proposal which has already been rejected by several in both houses of Congress. Being in the ME it's interesting watching all the tin hat speculation over the last month.

Being here, you should hear all the advise being offered by euro news, BBC, AlJazeera etc on how the US should deal with their gun problem. I can't tell you how many folks have told me how messed up the US is and how Americans are bad for the world. My response has often been, don't visit, don't buy our merchandise and by no means should you accept our foreign aid, private capital or intellectual advances. Generally shuts them up when they realize that means they would have 0 cell phones, 0 computers, 0 Internet security and very little banking. Oh, if they think gas prices are high now, wait til the US pulls E&P $$ and resources, not to mention our demand falls away.

I did hear something on the snooze about banning all semi auto handguns. I find that ludicrous considering probably 90 percent of legal gun owners and CCW holders carry them because they're easier to carry than revolvers, short of mini revolvers. It ain't about the mag capacity or killing more people. I guess it all semi autos capable of over 10 rounds are banned, my P11 will be illegal. They'll have to find me and kill me, though, to take it. Now that I'm living in the sticks surrounded by neighbors with private gun ranges (to which I've got my own :D], I really ain't too worried about it. There is NO WAY they can pull off any confiscation, don't have the manpower to do it in Colorado County, let alone the whole of the US. And, they'd be in for some real hornet's nests if they tried. So, I ain't real worried.

Now, the AWB as it WAS under Clinton is simply a cosmetic thing. Price will go up, but there'll be plenty of magazines for a while for ARs and AKs. There's something like 3 million ARs out there, I've heard, so confiscation isn't much easier than for semi auto handguns, I'd think. I don't own one, just a couple of SKSs, a Hakim, a 10/22, and a Remmy 597 magnum for semi auto rifles. One semi auto shotgun that only holds 3 rounds by design, a bird gun.

Now, if they go banning semi auto handguns, how about all the .22 caliber Rugers (I own 2) and Buckmarks and such out there? Are .22s going to default to evil status just because of function of the weapon? Stupid, but then of course, any gun ban is stupid including for full auto or sawn off shotguns or whatever.

I'm sure the Arabs want use disarmed. Reminds me of a Yamamoto quote during WW2, "One cannot invade the United States, there'd be a rifle behind every blade of grass." That right there is part of the reason behind the second amendment, of course, and seems the Swiss understand it if no other European country does.

I have actually heard this rumor from a couple of people. Supposedly, there is some additive that when added to powder and primers will degrade
them after a certain period of time. Although I can definitely see the Anti's supporting such a thing, I think it is a load of BS for one reason alone.
Liability. Can you imagine the lawsuits that would be filed against the Ammo manufacturers if people start getting injured because their "expiring
ammo" expired too soon and started causing squibs.

Rumors are just that, rumors. I'll wait to get my knickers in a knot when a real proposal is made that is tangible and no longer a rumor.

That's not in the current proposal because the grabbers know it would go down in flames, but that's their ultimate goal. Keep nudging us down the slope and eventually we'll be just like the UK.

That's one of the sillier rumors I've heard. As long as there is tinfoil, there will be rumors. Some people thrive on them. Don't believe everything someone in a gun store tells you. I've run across quite a few idiots who work behind the counter. Some of them are hard-pressed to explain the difference between a bullet and a cartridge.

We feel the same way down here in the Magnolia state. :)

I don't put too much, if any weight into the rumors. But it is interesting to see how far some people want to take this. And how scared some other people are.
