Guide rod laser?

At the Midway site, they show the Lasermax series. I didn't see one for the 24/7. The one for the PT 92 is $350. That's a little rich for me. I have a laserlyte Q.D. on order for my PT 92. It can be detached and used with other guns. The laserlyte is $100, for the regular bright model. It also seems that Taurus has a deal with Laserlyte for a package, gun with mounted laser. LaserMax is the originator of the guide rod laser. I have one for my Springfield XD 45 ACP and it functions flawlessly. I can't say anything negative about it and the installation is quite simple. Plus the beam is either steady or pulsating (which is easier for the eye to recognize quickly). The best part is that the laser is already sighted for the specific weapon you purchase it for (except the 1911's and revolvers). At 25 yds it is +/- 2 inches, which is more than acceptable for defensive scenarios. Unfortunately, they do not offer one for the 24/7----yet.

I contacted lasermax about this a year ago. They said if customer service got enough inquries, they'd probably start desiging a 24/7 variant of the guide rod laser. I suggest anyone who's interested ask customer service when one will be available.

Holy mackerel Andy! Actually, I don't think I'm nearly as interested as I thought I might be!

i contacted lasermax about six months ago and expressed interest in getting a guide rod laser for the 24/7 pro. They said they didn't have any plans for making one at the time, but they thanked me for my request.

Now, if i could just get the IRS to give me that kind of brush off. lol

The Lasermax units are nice. I haven't owned a gun with one on it, but I have held a 1911 with one installed. The best thing about it is that you don't have any addtional holster or concealed carry problems, because it doesn't change the form factor of the gun. The bad thing is that you don't look very tacti-cool.   :

^^ unless i'm in full tactical gear.... i think the tactical look serves no purpose. it's just more gear for someone to shot at you. Just like people who buy flashlights that mount on rails. If it's at night and you turn your light on because you have a criminal trying to shoot you, you have just given them a perfect, well lit target to aim for. So they are either going to hit your gun (which is possible but iono, it's not a movie; they are probably going to get great body shots on you).

Exactly---and that's why a guide rod laser is perfect.

Exactly. Sort of. :-X The drill with a light, rail-mounted or hand-held, is flash and move, flash and move, not turn on and leave on. When you flash on something that needs to be shot, go to work.

After shooting at the range, how does gun powder residue effect the lense on the laser? I personally would like to see a guide rod version for the OSS that I just got.

That I do not know...a good question that should be directed to LaserMax.

Once again though....they have no plans for producing one for the 24/7 line.

I have been looking at it in the Cabella's Shooters Catalog. I would LOVE to have one for my PT 92, but let's face it, who is gonna buy a laser that costs MORE than the gun it's going on.
