Well, its been 60 friggin' days...but my 1 day old PT145MP finally made it back to me.

You may remember I bought a brand new Gen 3 from Gander Mountain a couple months ago and took it to the range the same day. I was having feed issues, and the magazines kept ejecting while firing. Took it straight back to GM. They sent it off to Taurus who were then nice enough to keep it for two months (and fix it for free ;D).

The fix? The letter that came back stated that they adjusted the magazine button. Whooo! There must've been one hell of a back log of work to be done if it took 2 months for a five minute job. Plus, one of the mags that came with the pistol was damaged at the catch hole. I noted this and marked the mag - which they saw fit to return to me instead of replace and it still does not function.

Not real happy with the service I have received. Luckily, GM is gonna give me a new mag. Let's hope it continues to run ok. Bottom line, they made good on the warranty...unfortunately it just takes a really long time to get it back.

The only thing Gander Mountain could do for you is send the gun back that was one day old? You definitely got a lemon.

That is very bad customer service for such a large and expensive store!

I dont know GM's firearm policy, but what they did is more than a lot of firearm retailer will do. At least GM sent it with their nickle. Most large retailers like GM will just tell you to send it back to the manufacturer. That is one reason I like dealing with the small shop owners, they take care of their customers. And most of the small guys also reward loyalty.

I'm in basically the same boat. I bought a 24/7 Pro last Thursday night from Bass Pro Shop. Shot it Friday night and broke the slide spring.

Sent it back to Taurus on Saturday. We'll see what they do and how long it takes.

Yeah. I paid the extra $20 for the 'Pro Plan'. That way, shipping is covered. So, it paid for itself the same day I bought it.

The part that makes me a little mad is that Tuarus shipped the pistol with a lemon mag ( a nice dent right at the mag catch hole). Then when I sent it back with the problem mag marked - they still sent it back instead of replacing it. Luckily, GM is ordering me a new one at no charge.

Hooray for Gander.

As experience has shown, accumulating extra mags that are of good quality is a good idea. These take a beating through heavy use for many reasons. Or having enough mags for "just in case" bad scenarios. One can never have enough mags or ammo. :)

Budgeting for extras takes some doing though, prices being what they are for some models. Prices go up with talk about bans or pending legislation against high capacity magazines.

Some companies sell their guns at low prices. Then when it comes to the extra magazines sticker shock will make your eyes pop. :D
