Really strange.
500+/- rounds through my new G3 and on my cleaning bench today I'm unable to release the slide forward with a downward hold of the disassembly tabs.
Ive had no issues during the last 3 cleanings.
Gun is empty.
No mag.
Safety off.
Trigger spring released.
Tabs pulled down and slide pulled back. The slide just wont release forward....im stumped.

Got any ideas?

TIA

First of all, do not panic. This is not a uncommon issue with a lot of guns. Try adjusting the lever a little more or less. Tap the rear of the gun with a little force and it should move forward. If this does not work, I will give another solution. But understand how the gun and lever work to understand.

When I first got my G3C, it did that. I just kept racking the slide back, and tried again and again and again and....you get the picture. Was finally getting ticked off, and slowly kept pulling and little harder and wiggling it around as I pulled, then it just slipped off. Never had any issues since.

Strange.

Are you pulling the trigger to release the slide? Proper procedure is as follows :
1) move slide towards rear of gun approximately 1/8"
2) while holding slide press 2 (1 each side) release tabs downwards and release slide
3) pull trigger and remove slide assembly by moving it forward.

Just a note, from my previous post. Forget to mention to pull the trigger when doing the procedure.

Watched that video, too.
I even removed my striker and striker guide to see if anything there was broken or blocking.....
This evening I'll post a video so you all can see.

Thanks for the ideas so far. keep them coming.

Lol, it is going to be just one of things you play around with enough untill "Bingo", you hit the right button. Just look at it as a challenge. And it will come off.when you least expect it to.

Sometimes it's a simple matter of not holding your mouth right or having your comb in the wrong pocket....seems to me that the wrong color of underwear kept me from gettin' a bearing off once.

Sometimes the tool bounces back and hits something and makes you angrier!! Ask me how I know!!

More than once, I've stood before a vehicle or machine with a sledge in one hand, a plasma cutter in the other while making it absolutely clear that "one of us is gonna' lose here an' it ain't gonna' be me". Afterward, everything went rather swimmingly so you'll never convince me that they don't understand.

Ive tried a little gentle persuasion with a rubber mallet, swore at it, and talked about its mom.
Still can get the bugger off.
Visited my neighbor who's no stranger to handguns. He couldnt get it off either.
Still working on it...

Still unable to get the slide off. Tried numerous things.
Ive even locked the slide back, grabbed the end of the recoil assembly, and attempted to reposition the other end of the recoil spring onto the proper shelf of the barrel, in the event that was the issue.
Might visit a gunsmith in the area or call Taurus for a repair under warranty...

I also struggled with both of my G3’s. What finally worked for me was pulling the trigger then pulling the slide back just until the trigger reset then pulling the leavers down and releasing the slide and pulling the trigger. I don’t think that I was pulling the slide back enough to release the slide.

The local gunsmith (and another patron in the shop) were also unable to remove the slide.
Started a claim w/Taurus for a repair under warranty.
Shipped it out this am. Cost me $100 to ship.
Sorry to hear about your troubles. It does surprise me that a gun smith could not fix it. Before paying a $100 I think I would have pulled the slide back as far as possible with the trigger depressed and had some one hit it really hard with a mallet. Also for that cost, I would find another gun smith and pay him. That cost is excessive and at least hopefully pays for shipping both ways. The entire thing sucks. And to add to the fact that Taurus does not allow a owner to buy parts is the biggest turnoff on their guns.I hope you do keep us informed and insist on telling you exactly what the issue is. Hope you get it back soon.
