From 9's back to 45's

Went to the range yesterday and all I shot was the new PT 1911 and this evening I changed the Dillon back to loading 45's from 9mm I worked with some TIGHTGROUP and got some really good results with it pushing a 200 grain SWC, I also found a good load for WST pushing the same bullet. I was using a rest but I always do when checking out loads I'm just enjoying the new shootin Iron I adjusted the front sight just a tad to the right and that made all the difference I needed.I had the range all to myself I didn't see another person all day.

Two powders that I've loaded up many of in 45acp for target loads. I've put a lot of both through my 45's with good results. The WST seems to me a much softer recoil powder, and Titegroup is a bit snappier. Both can be very accurate with the right loading. Keep having fun !

Sounds like a great day at the range! I had an appraisal assignment up in the area of my inexpensive indoor range today but was tight on time. Really need to get out and empty some of those 45 ACP cases!

Well, .45 is easier to see in the grass than 9mm. :D

For 200 gr. SWCs at 1.240" WST blew my dress up with 4.8 grs!

TiteGROUP is a good powder that, unfortunately, burns hotter than most. That doesn't mean I want to scare you away from it. hey, both of my parents were born and raised in Arkansas, but the best application for TiteGroup is in low pressure loads like a 200 gr. SWC bunnyfart, or a 148 gr. Wadcutter in .38 Sp.

Not your best choice for cast and poly-coated bullets in high pressure loads like 9mm, .38 Super, .40 S&W or 10mm.;)

Notice a kind of theme going here on the powders?
Like I have said I use the Acc #5 or HS-6 in 9 MM, 38 Super, 10 MM and 45 acp with like results.
so I am a simple kind of guy and go with what works for me.

the 200 Gr SWC does the same thing as well.
I started using the SWC when we had the monthly competition going on.
the SWC cuts nice round holes with no tear out so its easier to measure.
In reality most of the difference in the groups is ME and movement.
all my 45 shoot pretty darned good the Range Officer and the CZ 97 are day in a day out the best shooters.

WARNING! 200 gr. SWCs can be addictive!

And, O, you don't need that DW! Just send it to me and I'll take care of it! Unfortunately, my shooting partner just sold his CCO. And while I don't have one, I am having withdrawals. I believe he recouped his investment, he just didn't feel like he carried it enough and started thinking Hi-Cap.

I'm hearing more from him lately about how he'd like to shoot 10mm, so a G20 may be in his future.

I wasn't into the bunnyfart thing for quite some time. But when I got serious about it, using faster burning powders to get around 800 FPS with WST and 200 gr. SWCs, it really is a blast and I'm hooked on SWCs, anyway. I loved shooting 200 gr. SWCs before I even started making bunnyfarts.

The defense loads I talk about all use JHPs and the performance levels are quite a bit different. I use True Blue for them. Kind of in the same neighborhood as A #5 and HS6, meters like hour-glass sand and accuracy is excellent.;)

38 Super

I went in the Middle with a Kimber Pro Carry HD II in 38 Super. It is a superb 1911.

I dispatched this 4' ambush predator hiding under some cedar branches here on my ranch this morning. One shot, one dead snake.

I was loading the cedar branches into my tractor bucket.

The Kimber is amazingly accurate and easy to shoot in 38 Super.
