I am not certain, but I have heard of more problems with the forcing cone from shooting the lighter .357 bullets. Never had any trouble myself, maybe someone more informed will be along soon. And welcome to the forum by the way.
669 is closer to K-frame than J-Frame size. Generally the heavier round is longer. This means the nose of the bullet has found the forcing cone before the hot gas and unburned powder have begin sandblasting the frame and forcing cone. This is why the heavier round is less damaging to the forcing cone than a lighter round.Hello all ! I own a Taurus Model 669 6" .357 magnum revolver. I as wondering if the frame would be considered a "J" or "K" frame or considered just a medium frame Taurus. And am I hurting it by shooting 158 grain or 180 grain for hunting?![]()
