Heres an update to original post the 7 yr license only pertains to those issued on or after june 11,2008

Senate Bill 948 is the piece of legislation that increased the valid period of the concealed weapon license. Governor Crist signed the bill into law the previous day. In addition to extending the period of time during which a license is valid from five to seven years, this bill also promulgated language that specifies that a person must be a RESIDENT of the United States and either a CITIZEN or a PERMANENT RESIDENT ALIEN in order qualify for the concealed weapon license.
