First trip with my PT145

Since getting my CHL I had been wondering how it would feel to drive a long distance with the weapon next to me in a holster.

It was on my right hip for about 265 miles going to Albuquerque Friday morning. It was never uncomfortable and I really did not notice it was there. I carry just forward of my hip and never had to adjust it and always had complete access to it even with a seatbelt on.

I carried from early morning until late into the evening Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with no fatigue or issues.

We drove back this morning and again I had no sense I was carrying a heavy caliber weapon beside me. The trip relieved most if not all of my concerns about driving and extended carry times.

I have a PT-145 that I carry most of the time. Other times I carry my Kimber. That being said, about 2 years ago I carried my PT-145 from my house here in Michigan to Corpus Christie,Tx. on a non stop trip with no issues or discomfort at all. I carry mostly in an IWB Galco and other times in a OWB Galco. Love my 145!! On my Texas trip I carried IWB.

Handgun holster Gun accessory Everyday carry Starting pistol

I've carried my PT145 in a Theis IWB holster all day on several occasions, and for a handgun this size it carried very comfortably.

It is also very comforting to know that a dependable Taurus .45ACP sidearm is accompanying me. :thumb:

:r_c: That's another selling point of the wonderful, reliable, compact, thin, light weight & accurate .45 ACP PT-145.

Mine's not for sale...

Great.. Thanks for sharing this information..
I have to agree! The PT145 is both comforting and comfortable. I've had the same experiences as you while traveling, although other arrangements have to be made when entering into communist occupied Illinois.
That Theis IWB looks similar to what I did to a Kholster to get it to sit atop my hip-bone. It's comfy to wear and conceal and draw from. I've worn my pt111 from here to Florida and back. No problem.
