Firing pin too long.

My firing pin on my 605 broke a while back. Called Taurus and had them send out a firing pin with spring and holding pin. The firing pin they sent was longer on the back end where it gets struck by the hammer. The "gunsmith" was able to use a stone off of a Dremel and shorten it so it didn't touch the rounds when closing the yoke and I haven't had any light strikes yet.

Question, has anyone else had this issue? Should I try to get Taurus to send another one out?
The golden pin was like the one I received, the other looks like the one I took out.

Thanks in advance,
Ricky

First, I'm a bit shocked that they actually sent you a firing pin - they usually say you need to send your gun in. But, I would think you have to assume that a new firing pin needs some fitting, and that's why it is a bit longer than it should be, so they can fit it to that particular gun.

The pin itself wasn't too long. The back of the pin seemed to be an entirely design (take a look in the pictures). Where it strikes the round is different as well.

I called tech support (on hold for 30 min....) and told them I was going to take it to a gunsmith and didn't want to pay to send it in. The tech had to get authorization from his supervisor, however he seemed like it wasn't a big deal.

Thank you for the welcome.

Think they may have sent you the wrong firing pin or it could be an upgraded pin.

I was just looking at Numrich's page on the 605. The first part you picture is not a firing pin. It's a locking bolt, for the old style cylinder rod.

Locking Bolt w/ Spring, Nickel - For 2 1/2'' & 3'' Barrels.

So, yeah, if that's what you got no wonder it doesn't work.
