I have an Interarms M88 Stainless with the 3 inch barrel and wooden and rubber rossi grips for it. I bought it brand new back in 1999 ($225) and then traded it to a gunshop for a AR15 but, missed it soo much I went back and bought it back for ($225) was an emotional purchase for me it was my very first handgun I couldnt let it go.

my first two guns from my dad were a 22 remington tube feed and a single shot 20 guage rossi, still got them both but the 22 is retired (had a hang fire and it took 5 more times until it finally blooped 6 bullets out into the water i was shooting over(age15-16)), anyway i traded into a 20guage/223 combo recently so i can pass one onto my daughter and one to my son.

I used to have a SS Rossi 4"barrel .357 that I put about 1000 rounds through and used as a hunting back up for quite a while back in the late 70s or early 80. As I recall I couldn't hit well with it with anything other than .38+ps. Could have been the homemade wine, though. I stupidly sold that one. I recently sold a blued .357 snubbie six shot and bought a Taurus Tracker .357 4" because I had a couple other ccw guns. The Rossi is a great gun IMO and mine have shot just as well as most of my friends S&Ws. A friend of mine has a little Rossi .22 pump rifle that I really like, but can't talk him out of. Unfortunately, I don't know the serial numbers of any of them.

A lot of staff and members here are over at other forums.Might be under other user names, but we're there.

It's nice to have a 972 owner on board.
Wouldn't mind getting your take on the 972 here overall. We're all eager to hear and to learn.

It's incredible the number of just visitors this place gets.

I think I read your post on TFL and followed your link.

I took up reloading about two years ago. And reloading means buying more guns. Always wanted a revolver but could just not bring myself to pay the price for Colt or S&W. The 972 looked just as good for a fraction of cost. Put about 500 rounds through and only thing I have noticed is firing DA is very sluggish... it may be my reloads. I think maybe the primer was not seated deep enough. I have put the ump to the primer seater and double action has improved .. It may be just "new" . I am going to see if I can get a pro to look at trigger. Firing Single Action is fantastic. It has a great trigger. I am amazed at how well it shots at 15 yards I putting up some pretty tight groups. Much Much better then the 1911 I sold to buy the Rossi. The gun is well put together and I am pleased. With the 6 inch barrel it is not a CC revolver.. but where I live in the county it will do the trick for home defense... deer.. and a hog.
By the way sure do appriciate the warm welcome from at the folks in this forum.

Being honest and open is kind of a normal thing at this place.

Assistance, respect of others, and a comraderie is the norm.

This is an eclectic bunch from every walk of life. As time goes by and experience gained it becomes apparent that people here own everything from Rossi/Taurus to the "high priced spread" guns of evey brand make and model.

Or just owning every day user friendly firearms is not considered a sin. More of a plus.

Welder05, my 461 has a tough DA also. I do not have many rounds thru it, and have not had the guts to open the side up yet. It might be dirty, from factory, or it might just be tighter than heck. But that SA, is light and sweet!! A little scary at times, until you fire a few rounds in SA.

I bought my first Rossi this last Monday night. It's a NIB 462 .357 2" stainless steel. I cleaned it up Tuesday and took her to the range Wednesday after work and put about 100 rounds through it: .38 spec FMJ, .38 +P JHP, and Winchester 145gr .357 silver tip JHP. The 357 loads were a bit harsh! Hopefully, I'll get used to them! It appears that anything over 125gr may give me more recoil than I want. Time will tell....

I also have a Bersa Thunder .380 that was my daughter's, a Kahr CW9 9mm, Marlin 30-30, and a Taurus 85 UL. I bought the Taurus new a few months ago and had to send it to BrazTech. It was shaving bullets on the left side of the forcing cone and locking up something fierce. It's been almost 2 months...

I really like my Rossi. After about 50 rounds, it was very difficult to open the chamber for reloading. The chamber rotated just fine before, during, and after firing. There does seem to be a pretty tight fit, but I don't think she is binding on the forcing cone. I'm hoping continued use will resolve this. I REALLY don't want to send it back!

Next I want a 851. That gun has me hooked!!!

Sir, I have and love my Blue 461. I have had the occasion during a shooting session where after a few cylinders it will start to act stiff. But as soon as I clean the front of the cylinders, and the back of the forcing cone it is fine again. If you want to shoot a couple hundred rounds, carrying your cleaning kit to the range is a good idea. In a PD senario, I never expect to shoot that many, :D at one time. I have only fired 38's thru mine, I have been hesitant to fire the 158 JHP 357's that I will carry in it, when my permit shows up for the same reason as you. I have begun to think maybe, just the 38's might be enough, I just love having a 6 shooter, ala the old west days. I am sure I will shoot the 357's and probably carry with them in place.

Oh I have the 9mm version of the 85, not the UL, and I love it. I carry 147gr JHP's in it. But I practice with 115gr or 124gr FMJ's.

Robby, you are so right about not needing that many rounds during a fight. I think I will carry my cleaning kit with me next time. Great idea! I also am waiting for my concealed carry license. Here in Texas, requests are running 40% above this time last year! My application has been in a little over 2 months. I will probably carry my Taurus 85 primarily because it's so light. The 462 is my "truck gun." I really do like .38 ammo! I only use standard pressure loads in my 85, and I may use only .38 +P in my 462. Both guns can probably handle the load, but it simply HAS to be harder on them. I have the Bersa because my daughter fell in love with my Ruger Security Six 357 Mag 6" barrel. Naturally she gets it! Ha! Then I'll get back my 35 year old H&R Model 732 .32 S&W revolver. I just love wheel guns! Thanks for the suggestion, Robby.

Yeah Sir!! I know about carrying the light one!! I have been pocket carry on my 9mm 905 Taurus, it is light too. The Rossi 461 is right now my night time gun by the bed. I have it loaded with 158 gr JHP. Might put it in the truck if I can get a holster mounted under the dash.
