Finally Got to Fire My Spectrum

919 Views 9 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Alfonse
Although I purchased it some time ago, I didn't have a chance to fire it until this weekend. It functioned perfectly with Remington hardball and Federal HydroShocks - no ftf, fte, or light primer strikes. The trigger is still pretty gritty, but seems to be getting better. My only complaint is that the slide inserts are pretty slick when your hands are sweaty (it was hot here in South Louisiana this past weekend).

Sounds like you got one of the good ones. Did it group well?
Did you save any of the spent shell casings? If so, pics please! I've shot Remington UMC hardball in my Spectrum and I get quite a few light primer strikes.

Do you have a target picture? Would be interested in your thoughts on how it grouped.

ahhh YEA!! :nopics:
I couldn't really tell, I was shooting an 8" steel plate, freehand at 10 meters. The sights were pretty hard to see.

Sorry, I didn't save any spent brass. I was shooting Remington "UMC Target" ammo.

I have to agree with your assessment of the slide inserts, but I'll go a bit further. I reside in northeastern Pennsylvania, so the weather hasn't been unreasonably warm or humid. Still, I find the slide inserts to be absolutely useless. They provide no grip whatsoever...in my own humble opinion, of course.
interesting and something that I haven't really thought about as I don't nor intend to buy one.
I would have thought that they would be a more spongy rubber like Hogue/Pachmayer?
maybe after the terrible problem that Taurus had with the RIBBER grips back several years ago they were a tad scared to go that route again?
Maybe some G10 inserts would be a thing. Of course, the color selection would be limited.
