Put a drop if superglue into the front sight, I lost my insert at the range. Cheap insurance instead of being without a front fiber optic for a week!
Finally got my Fire Sights Installed - Tips and Pics
I got my fire sights installed after much trouble and tribulations. Here is what I learned that I can pass along to you:
1) The Heinie sights have metric allen bolts. The rear is 2mm and the front is 1.5mm. The rear sight for me was not a problem at all, but the small size of the front sight made it very difficult to remove.
2) The Fire Sights are American Standard allen bolts. 1/16th rear and 0.05 front.
3) Use the hair dryer tip to help loosen the locktight first.
4) If you cannot get the bolt out, it's time to get a dremmel with a cut-off wheel and cut through the entire sight down to the bolt.
5) I haven't shot with them yet (because I just finished), but I used my Black & Decker laser level to shoot a beam down the middle of the slide to test the alignment. Hopefully that will save me some time later for left-right adjustments.
I just want to give a big thanks to anyone who posted tips, tricks, and suggestions during this process. I hope if you choose to buy these very reasonable priced and great looking sights that what I've posted helps you get them on.

so...the fire sight's come with set screw's?......i tried to get the rear screw out and can't....i did strip it.....so now i'm going to put the slide in a drill press and drill out the screw.....
Good lookin' sights. Hope they work for you. Looks like what I need for sure.

I put slide on the ground, pointed hairdyer about 2-3" away from the sight to loosen (making sure vents are clear).
Turn on dryer on medium heat for about 2-3 minutes.
Immediately insert a tight-fitting wrench and give a quick counterclockwise twist to crack the loctite.
Repeat for other sight.

just curious would you do it again or just pay gunsmith to put them on???i am thinking of putting some on and just want your opinion on how much B.S. is involved
My local range/gun shop said it would be $20 to put them on. Took me a whopping 2 minutes to swap mine on when I got the firesights last year for my PT111 and my PT145.
They survived a few hundred rounds in the 9mm and about 300roudns in the 45acp right now and still work.
Only thing was. One time one of the fiberoptic 'tubes' got lose and came out during recoil.
Pushed it back in, added some superglue to the end, and it's been fine since.

Stupid question - but these sights would work with a 24/7 Pro as well, correct?

I ordered mine form tactical-store.com...can't recall how I found them. They were back ordered for like a month and they gave me the option of canceling, but I just waited, then one day they showed up like a nice surprise!

this might sound stupid but what is the advantage of fire sights?I think they look cool and might even get them for that reason.

Actually, very SMART question. My personal motivation was that I didn't take to the Heine sights. No problems with my other pistols, but didn't like the Heine. One pistol I'm most accurate with is a Browning Buckmark with sights that look at lot like the Firesights, so based on my dislike for the Heine's and success with the Buckmark, I decided to try them out. I just installed my Fire Sights. The screws came out of the Heinie sights without having to use a hair dryer. They punched out without a hitch. The Fire Sights went in with only a few taps (a few more for final adjustment). Really, I don't see what the big deal is with changing out the sights. ;D
