Some one else also felt the need to put his girl friends house on TV for all to see as well, forcing her to go into hiding.

I agree that it is shocking, but not illegal. We as individuals are listed in so many public records, that almost anyone's address can be found.

In my county the voter rolls, property tax, auto registration, and other public information is readily available online.

As a state licensed peace officer, you can freely access all of my qualifications and training records online, but not my home address. In Texas, peace officers (and many others) can have their license plates removed from the public records.

Those that feel police are immune to retaliation are very foolish. Years ago I was waiting in the cop shop parking lot for a cop buddy to get off work. Was escorted inside by 2-3 agitated blue suits. Seems my buddy was threatened by an arrestees family swearing to "get him". They had already arrested a couple of them, also waiting in the parking lot, before I got there. They were VERY apologetic after learning I was a friend and not foe by the way.

It may not be illegal but if a party publishes that address of a person who would be at risk of being harmed, that party will certainly be liable in a civil lawsuit. If the party makes comments that encourage others to bring harm, that party will be coupable in any actions taken.

The NYT has the officer and the police in general pegged as conservative, and will do whatever harm they can get away with in a legal manner..

Hmmm... Poor judgment from the media... Shocking.

Hope the NYT slowly slighers into everlasting bankruptcy... Like the reptiles they are...
You are right! How do they sleep at night doing crazy crap like that? Regardless of the out come, their personal info shouldn't be put out there like that. If people want to know, let them research it themselves (which most won't do).

Post the editors name and address and his worth for all to see and see how he likes it. Also post that he is not armed.
If I'm not mistaken, that happened not too long ago when they did a piece on showing ccw peoples addresses? Some hackers posted their info.

We all want our Freedoms, but what the Left seems to have forgotten is that with Freedom, comes Responsibility. Responsibility seems to be lacking in their world, and not just in the Press.

There was NO reason to post this personal information except for the purpose of getting someone to do something to him or his family or property.

"HEY america, you know that racist cop who killed that little black boy and single-handedly set the whole town on fire, the one that you know you're supposed to hate irrationally? He just so happens to live at xxxx X xxxxxx St., blah blah MO. He's home between the hours of xx-xx:00 pm, and his children sleep in X room. Now, we don't anyone to take this info and do anything wrong with it like, oh, let your imagination run wild with the possibilities."

This could be viewed by some as offensive, insensitive and racist. Just saying, .......I am sure it is just sarcasm.

It was written as a hypothetical statement of the NYT, by posting his address, they are telling people to do something to him. It should come across as such, because the NYT is all the things you described. Perhaps I should have explained my post a little better. But that's why I put it in quotes and bolded it, to differentiate it from what I said above it. And it was the media that tried to portray him as such, maybe not "little" in stature, but "little" as in young, unarmed, powerless, etc. The media have been one of the more racist elements in this whole event. No one can ever just say "an officer shot and killed a criminal today", if the criminal was any kind of minority. The mere mention of the racial difference between the two inherently suggests racism as the primary motive. In that way they manipulated the public. I was just illustrating this "subtle racism" by making it more obvious, since it's essentially the message the NYT is promoting.

But I can see where someone might be offended by the phrase "little black boy", if its not coming from the MSM. I would hope the none in this forum would be so simple.
