As far as the extractor goes, if you mean free of charge, then Taurus will only send out a replacement in the event yours breaks. If you
are calling them for a spare to have on hand, you will have to pay for the extractor, plus shipping and handling. It would not be cost
effective if Taurus just sent out spare extractors to anyone who asked. 1911 extractors are basically a disposable part. If you're lucky,
you can get one that will last for years, or you can go through a few in a month (especially if they aren't properly adjusted).

Without more info, not sure what you mean about parts being "out of spec" or "poor quality".

To be honest you are going a little back and forth and doing some orange and apple type comparison. That is like buying a Hi-Point and expecting the interior components to be similar to a Les Baer. There is a reason firearms have different cost/price indexes. Kind of comes back to you get what you pay for. I am not going to go buy PPU ammo and expect it to function like Nosler....right? I enjoy Taurus firearms but I am also realistic that they fall into a different category than my Colt. That being said I also have never had an issue with Taurus when it came down to CS. They replaced a spring on my PT140 but the spring was not working correctly. I didn't just call them and tell them I wanted a second spring because this one was eventually going to wear out. As stated they wouldn't be in business long if they sent people 2-3 replacement parts upon request because they thought the part was inferior or not at high-end manufacturing level.

Who told you the Ed Browns, Wilson Combats, etc didn't fit? Any series 80 extractor should fit with the same amount of fitting required by any 1911.

There's any number of people on these boards who are running aftermarket extractors and I've actually got a couple on order to have as backups for when mine finally craps the bed (somewheres around 15k+ and still running strong).

HMM? out of spec??
I guess that depends on who's specs that you are looking at!
very few of todays 1911's are perfect mil spec weapons.
thats one reason that you just are plain lucky if you order a part , it drops right in AND IT WORKS AS DESIGNED!
parts have tolerances and as long as a part is within these tolerances then its pretty much a spec part.
but parts can run a full gambit of sizes, most aftermarket parts are slightly oversized to be able to make to fit.
I have colts, Springfield, para, taurus,Dan wesson, etc and i would not honestly expect to be able to take a part out of a colt and put it in a DW and it fit perfectly.
I have never had a problem buying backup parts for any of my Taurus, including extractor, recoil spring, firing pin, recoil assemblies, I just tell the CS that i have no problems with the weapons but i simply want to purchase a back up part in case it does break?
so guess you got a hold of the wrong person.
try calling again.
