I was cleaning my 85 today noticed this. Anyone else have similar marks on their revolvers? Thanks!

I've got variations of that on all my revolvers, some more pronounced; some less. Do you, can you determine if there is a misalignment of the crane to the frame? Can you see matching marks on the cylinder?

I don't know about the alignment but there are no marks on the cylinder.

At the proximity of the marks it would be the star wheel on the back of the cylinder. Does the ejector set flat to the cylinder ?

I've got the same marks on my 85. It's caused by the indexing claw on the star extractor. My older S&W revolvers have it too, just not as pronounced.

Thanks everyone. It works fine. I was just concerned about the marks.

Normal. I've never owned a D/A revolver that didn't have those marks, no matter what the brand. Some were just worse than others.
